Every Sim has a pre-destined hobby which will be selected at birth. But you can guide what your Sims do and build up their enthusiasm for any hobby you like.

The Genie will grant one lucky Sim 3 wishes. Sims have a variety of options to choose from. Be careful what you wish for!

Yes, every hobby has a skill associated with it. High skill will help you build enthusiasm for that particular hobby.

Hi Shannon and Lakshmi, I was wondering that when our sims make, say like teddy bears, well if they didn't want to sell them for money, could they either keep them for themselves, OR put them into their inventory to hand out as gifts later?

Yes, when you make the teddy bear on the sewing machine, you can sell them, display them or put them in your inventory to give as gifts.

I really like the restorable car as well. You'll only be able to paint it once you've actually finished working on it, though! First, your Sims will have to put in some time working on making the engine work and the body shine.

You can build hobby enthusiasm in a variety of areas. We are tracking 10 types including sports, arts & crafts, science, muscic & dance, etc. Enthusiasm is independent of skill such that you can be very enthusiastic about sports and not be a star if your body skill is low.

In The Sims 2 FreeTime, how do you setup a current created sim with the life time and secondary aspiration. Does it do this automaticly or similar to Nightlife with the potion for turn ons and Offs?

Every Sim will have a lifetime aspiration bar, regardless of whether they already exist or are created in CAS after FreeTime is installed. Secondary aspiration is something that you can "buy" with benefit points that you accrue for keeping your Sim's aspiration high.

Sims, like people, have many interests. If they spend time doing different types of activities they will be enthusiastic about more than one hobby. Or they can focus their energy on just one.

We are doing fine. thanks for asking Talking to the community is always exciting, so we are having a blast over here. High enthusiasm will not help you build skill in a field, but high skill will help you build enthusiasm in the related hobby.

Children will absorb hobby enthusiasm if a Sim around them performs an interaction related to a hobby. This effect increases if the child has a high relationship with the adult who is performing the interaction.

Depends on who you are and how you play. There are loads of new objects and gameplay. I love the lifetime aspiration benefits and the option to choose a secondary aspiration. I also enjoy the sewing machine objects.

Building the Train set seems particuarly fun. Is the Trainset customisable? Or does it appear in seperate Stages like when a Sim paints?

The train set is awesome! It can be totally customized. Each Sim that buys the table can choose to have a different set of items on the table, including trees, signs, a small town, a mountain, and a lake. There's a total of 256 possible configurations (if I did my math right)!

Many of the objects already in existance are part of Sims' hobbies. The OFB stations in particular contribute to Arts & Crafts (toys and flower arrangements) and Tinkering (robots).

You can choose from a variety of colors, including silver, white, yellow, green, blue and gray. My favorite is the gray color with flames.

Sims are alot like us in that there is much more to life that work and school. All of us have hobbies and interest that make life exciting. We wanted to capture the fun and bring that to Sims 2 gameplay.

Every Sim you can marry will have hobby enthusiasm of some kind. If those Sims have really high enthusiasm you will notice that those Sims can show up on the special lots for that hobby.

Hey, I know there's a new activity table for toddlers, but with the drawings they make do they all look the same, or is it like the easel depending on their skill and how long they practice depends on what picture they draw? Same with the blocks do all toddlers build the same type of tower or does it vary with skill? Thanks for chatting with us!

With all the expansions, like university open for business and the fact sims have needs and jobs I'm a bit concerned my sims won't have much time to do all the new stuff in freeTime. Have you found that a problem or does the expansion blend in quite smmoothly with the work?

It really depends on how you play the game, but I've found that this pack actually flows really well with the base game and other expansions because it adds a lot of gameplay that can be used no matter what you're doing with your Sims. You'll find that some of the hobbies are more interesting to you and you might even find that a lot of the things your Sim is already doing correlate to a particular hobby!

It means that you can create your own playlists with the songs that we have in the game or your own MP3s. So you can have your favorite songs play on the radio in the game (and your Sims can do the slap dance to it :))

When a Sim has a secondary aspiration they will see wants in their panel from both their primary and secondary.

Sims in different neighborhoods will be able to access secret lots. The secret membership cards are linked to hobby enthusiasm.

There still seems to be a little confusion about hobby enthusiasm. It insn't something that's assigned, but it rather it's kind of like a combination of skills and motives, in that your Sims will build hobby enthusiasm based on what activities they engage in. Predestined hobbies are the only things that are predetermined.

Of course! Your Sims can be enthusiastic about any number of hobby types. While every sim has a predestined hobby they do not have to focus on a specific kind of activity

I'm not sure if there's one "best tip" but I'd say not to forget about lifetime aspiration. It'll be easy to keep track of what hobbies your Sims are enthusiastic about, but those lifetime aspiration benefits can help make life much easier for your Sims.

There was an online competition in which finalist were chosen over a 5 week period. You can find the finalist design in FreeTime using the sewing machine.

With the whole secondary aspiration idea, what would happen if a sims primary aspiration was family and secondary aspiration was romance. Would they have a want to get married and a fear of getting married at the same time?

While that would be funny (and perhaps realistic for some people who both want to settle down yet fear commitment), secondary aspirations won't generate fears for your Sims, only new wants.

You will need to have friends and several computers on your lot. Then you pick one of the games your Sim has availabe and play it against the other Sims to see who is best. And if you're good enough, you'll even win a prize.

A good portion of a Sims hobby inclination is determined by their personality. An active, outgoing sim will be likely to have Fitness as their predestined hobby, but their interests also have some influence.

There are no bad hobbies. If your Sim isn't talented/skilled you may find that Sims have different outcomes than those who are skilled.

There are no roller-blades in FreeTime. It is easy to confuse a sim running with it gliding in a video.

The Lifetime Aspiration Meter rewards Sims with points that can be spent on Lifetime Aspiration Benefits. One of them being the Summon Aliens ability that ups your chances of an Alien abduction!

The Zone can be entered by a Sim who is so enthusiastic about a hobby the she forgets everything else around her. The Sim's motives will decay more slowly so that they can perform interactions related to that hobby for a longer period of time without taking a break. For some particular interactions, there are also special effects which only the Sim who is in the zone can see or hear. You will have to find out!

The novels your Sims write now can be customized several different ways. Not only can you pick what genre/cover the book should be, you'll also get to pick a sequence of plot elements that the novel is about!

On a community lot with a food contest table and judge, your Sims can submit their food for a competition. Other sims will submit their food too. The judge compares the 4 entered dishes and determines a winner.

The competitions rely on the objects that are needed to hold them. For the gaming competition you will need computers, for the dancing competition you will need a DJ booth and for the cooking competition you will need judges - so look for a table that looks like you could present your food on it.
